2: Creatures, Animals, and Piet Mondrian

2nd Grade had a fun time creating Piet Mondrian inspired paintings.  They were to choose either an animal or a creature (not everyone likes animals!) After that,  we talked about pattern, line, primary, and secondary colors.  Similar to Piet Mondrian's technique of lots of lines and squares with Primary Colors, students were able to choose between both primary and Secondary Colors for the inside of their animal. They finished their piece by doing a water-color resist technique and adding a final background.  They turned out lovely!
